Finished a great interview with survivor Robert Wagemann for the new documentary. In the nick of time too. Snow storm rolled in and we lost power right as we finished the shoot!

Von and Sao earlier this week waiting for their surgeries!

Von’s surgery to straighten out his knee went well. They straightened out his leg by cutting a wedge out of one side of his thigh bone and then placing it on the opposite side. Then they put in a steel plate to stabilize everything. He is now in a cast and will have to return in 8 weeks for more surgery. Both kids are headed home this weekend!

Update: Sao’s first surgery for her bilateral club feet today went well. Surgeon’s lengthen her Achilles tendon so that her heel and sole of her foot will be able to lay flat on the floor. They also inserted some pins through the heel into the leg bones to hold the foot in a straightened position. Another surgery Thursday for the other foot to follow. She is resting and recovering. A big thank you to Roza, Jess and Pheakdey for their fantastic field work with our Safe Haven kids!

Sao’s surgery has been postponed until Tuesday and Von’s until Wednesday. I will continue to keep everyone updated!

Von and Sao have arrived at the Children’s Surgical Center In Phnom Penh. Surgery is tomorrow!

Two weeks until our final interview with survivor Robert Wagemann. Born with a physical disability, he was targeted for extermination under the T4 program and later his family was persecuted for being Jehovah’s Witnesses.
